Our Story

Rae and Anita Hassett

We are a mother/daughter team who delight in sharing our passion for drumming and rhythm with people of all ages.

The idea to establish our drumming/percussion business evolved in 2009. For years we had been doing impromptu drumming sessions with friends, family, neighbours and their children and there was always the same reaction………utter joy!  We could see that drumming would be the perfect experience for young, enquiring minds, so pre-school children became our focus.  We wanted to introduce young minds to an interactive, unique experience they wouldn’t forget.  We personally visited over 300 early childhood centres in the Auckland area and were overwhelmed with the enthusiastic response we received.  

Auckland Kindergarten Association(AKA) and North Auckland Kindergarten Association(NAKA) were particularly supportive and they then approached us to facilitate Professional Development Workshops for their teachers.   That took us in to a new area of working with adults and it has been equally rewarding to see them embrace a new experience.

Our goal now, is to “spread the word AND the beat” and involve more people in all walks of life.

Update from Rae - 2021

After over a decade of adventures together, and some wonderful memories, it is time for Anita to move on.

I will continue with the same workshop format and I look forward to being able to give many more people the opportunity to experience the excitement of drumming in a group.
